Born in 1951, Willy lives and works in Holland. He is a highly skilled ceramist, and has spent most of his life refining his skills and style in developing crystalline ceramics.
In Willy’s current work you can see and feel that he is inspired and fascinated by the translucence of the high-fired porcelain. The bowls and cylinders are thrown and turned as thin as possible and decorated with coloured slips.
He is playing with this translucence and the simple contemporary decoration on the partly glazed or unglazed traditional forms.
Technique is a high priority in his work and if there is no balance and harmony he is not satisfied.
